How to Access Your Exclusion and Verification Preferences

Follow these steps to access your preferences:

  1. Navigate to the bottom-left corner of the screen.

  2. Click the > button and select Profile.

  3. Scroll to the Preferences section.

  4. Locate the Exclusion Preferences and Email Verification Preferences sections.

Key Considerations

💡 Best Practice: Regularly review your exclusion settings to ensure they align with your workflow and avoid unnecessary duplicates.

⚠️ Common Mistake: Forgetting to update verification preferences before downloading contacts can lead to lower deliverability rates in outreach campaigns.

Understanding Exclusion Preferences

Exclusion Preferences help you filter out contacts you already have, prevent redundant data, and comply with regulatory requirements.

Automatically Exclude My Previous Downloads

✔️ Prevents contacts you’ve already downloaded from appearing in future searches. ✔️ Helps maintain a clean and updated dataset.

Automatically Exclude "Team Name" Previous Downloads

✔️ Excludes contacts downloaded by your team members. ✔️ Reduces overlap and avoids duplicate outreach.

Automatically Exclude EU Contacts & Companies

✔️ Ensures compliance with GDPR. ✔️ Excludes EU-based contacts from appearing in search results.

Tip: Adjust these settings based on your workflow. If you target a global audience, you may want to leave EU contacts enabled.

Understanding Email Verification Preferences

Email Verification Preferences allow you to control the quality and deliverability of email addresses in your searches. UpLead categorizes emails into three groups:

  • Valid: Deliverable email addresses.

  • Accept All: Domains that accept all emails but don’t guarantee deliverability.

  • Invalid: Undeliverable emails flagged as invalid.

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Choose a Verification Option

Select the preferred email verification setting:

Valid → Only includes confirmed, deliverable emails. Best for high deliverability.

Valid + Accept All → Includes “Accept All” emails, balancing quality and quantity.

Valid + Accept All + Invalid → Includes all emails, including invalid ones, maximizing volume but reducing deliverability.

Ask Each Time → Prompts you to choose settings each time you download contacts.

Step 2: Save Your Preferences

Once selected, your settings automatically apply to future searches and downloads.

Tip: For high deliverability rates, select Valid or Valid + Accept All.
